Your Business Should Use YouTube More Often, And Here’s Why….

Video content has been around for a number of years now, but for some reason, businesses don’t seem to use it effectively. Here’s an interesting stat from Google; by the end of 2017 69% of all web traffic will be video. And according to Cisco, that figure is set to rise to 80% by 2020.
Now, YouTube is the world’s second largest search engine, with over 1 billion active users every day. Only Google themselves can trump that card, with 3.4 billion active users every day. In comparison to SEO and PPC Advertising, Video Marketing doesn’t have too much competition, and therefore your business can rank quite high in a short space of time.
Video marketing is proven to attract up to 80% more engagement than standard advertising. The beauty of video marketing is your video can be targeted to a very specific audience through tags and keyword content that accompanies the video.
I mentioned earlier that Youtube is the world’s second largest ‘search engine’. A lot of companies don’t think of Youtube as a search engine, but at Hype we do, and you should too. If you think about it, people go to YouTube to find answers… So here’s a couple of top tips to help you rank high up on the YouTube results page.
  1. Treat your channel and videos like your blog and posts. Enter specific keywords and tags relevant to your video. You have a 5000 character limit on the description, use it all up!
  2. Put your main keyword and website link in the first paragraph of the description for improved results.
  3. Put your company name in the tags. That way, YouTube will group all your videos together and should play them one, after the other.
  4. Keep your video between 60 seconds and 4 minutes, these have the highest retention ratio. People get distracted or bored after 5 minutes – I know I do.
  5. Integrate Google Analytics to monitor performance and gain valuable insight.
  6. Your video will be ranked based on a number of factors including; Title, Description, Tags, Viewer engagement and shares so don’t expect to go straight to the top immediately.
  7. Name your video file using keywords relevant to the video or marketing message.
  8. Use Google Keyword Planner to find good keywords – it’s free.
  9. Verify your channel. This will allow you monetise videos, add a thumbnail and add 15-minute videos (although you will lose half your audience around the 5-minute mark).
  10. Add subtitles. Google ranks videos that have subtitles higher than those that don’t.
Now, of course, you need a video, right? An explainer video or infomercial is a great introduction to video marketing. These videos are extremely cost effective and amazing when it comes to raising brand awareness, and improving inbound marketing.
For the cost of a Big Mac you can get an explainer video made at Fiverr.com however for the cost of a nice weekend away in Center Parcs we can make it for you 🙂
I know which one I prefer… I love Center Parcs!
  1. Screencast Video. Put simply, this is a recording of your screen. Camtasia is a great screen recording tool and comes with a 30-day trial. Low budget, excellent for showcasing products and services.
  2. Cartoon Video. All about storytelling, great for building brand awareness and trust. Add a bit of comedy but make sure your brand and marketing message is maintained.
  3. Whiteboard Video. For describing more complex scenarios, such as outlining software development or IT issues.
  4. Motion Graphics. Excellent for integrating important statistics into 3D animation.
Well, that just about wraps up this blog. If you made it to the end, thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing your thoughts (I think). :s
